There were two challenges facing the programmers: first was simply getting all of the data out of legacy system and into the web, and the second was presenting that information in a real-time model.
The data required for the Diversiform web site is stored in Oracle and Paradox databases, and is combined with information based on data acquisition from scores of dealership databases off site, input from a physical scanning process, and telephone service representatives entering information manually. With our existing data integration tools, we were able to combine information from all these data sources to create dynamic reports without interrupting Diversiform's day-to-day operations.
In order to create a flexible, custom reporting system, the team created an extensive series of scripts and programs to combine disparate data, generate graphs, and present additional information based on changing variables all in seconds for the web user, as opposed to the nightly jobs Diversiform had been running for printed versions.
This work resulted in a system which provides information faster, in a cleaner format, with realtime updates from dozens of sources, saving time and money for Diversiform and their customers.
